DANBURY, Conn. -- Zoey Araquel of Danbury recently participated in the 2016 Connecticut Age Group Championship, a four-day event featuring the top junior swimmers in the state.
Araquel, who attends the Wooster School, competed in six events, the maximum allowed for each swimmer, making the finals in all six contests by finishing in the top 20 within her age group.
In the finals, Araquel medaled in two events, finishing eighth and 10th in the 11- to 12-year-old girls’ bracket.
Araquel was recognized by her team's coaching staff as the "Swimmer of the Meet" for her squad.
Araquel swims for the Wilton Wahoos, which has consistently ranked among the top 20 swim programs in the country.
