DANBURY, Conn. -- Wooster School Theatre in Danbury will present "Urinetown" -- a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and musical theatre itself -- beginning on Friday, Feb. 26.

The story features a Gotham-like city that has a government-enforced ban on private toilets, given a drought-cased water shortage. A "single malevolent company" controls the basic function, and a hero emerges -- "and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom."

The musical is inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. A press release calls it "an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny."

Performances are

  • Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • March 4 at 7:30 p.m.
  • March 5 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

All tickets are $15 each. You can reserve you tickets here. Seating is extremely limited, so folks are asked to please honor their reservations.

Wooster School is an independent, coed college prep day school, serving students from Fairfield and Westchester counties. It's located in Danbury, and serves students from pre-K through 12th grade.
