Future 5 has taken up residency in a first-floor area of the Lifetime Learners Suite donated by Norwalk Community College, located on the first floor of its West Campus, 188 Richards Ave.
“Community partnerships have proven to be a key ingredient in student success,” Norwalk Community College Foundation Executive Director Ann Rogers said in a statement. “Our goal is to significantly increase the number of NCC students who earn a high quality credential or associate degree leading to employment, or transfer to complete their Bachelor Degree. We are thrilled that Future 5 is now one of these key community resources.”
Future 5 currently helps about 45 students with academic, financial and time-management issues while building better and sustainable education pathways.
Volunteer coaches Martha Cook, a New Canaan resident with an MBA, and Norwalk’s Julie Horowitz (MHSA, LCSW), will provide weekly office hours for students from 1 to 3 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.
“The Future 5 – NCC Stay Connected collaboration was initiated to establish an on-campus support system for Future 5 high school graduates as they pursue their college and career path,” Future 5 Founder and Executive Director Clif McFeely said in a statement. “For a large percentage of our Stamford high school graduates, NCC represents a critical step towards this goal. Improving the NCC retention and graduation rates is key to the success of our organization and is beneficial to NCC as well. We’re grateful for the donated space and our new partnership with NCC.”
