Danbury's Wooster School Opens 90th Year With Convocation

DANBURY, Conn. — Wooster School in Danbury officially kicked of its 90th year on Friday as the entire school gathered in the Forever Young Gymnasium for the convocation. 

The youngest and oldest students in the school's community gathered, with kindergarteners and seniors sitting together. 

Head of School Matt Byrnes welcomed the community and introduced the Rev. Mark Lingle, who led everyone in the school prayer.

Continuing in a time-honored tradition, Senior Prefect Anna Krzyzewski of Pawling, N.Y., led everyone in reciting the school's honor code.

Students who began their Wooster School careers in the Lower School, and are now seniors, were recognized. 

The 13 seniors each were presented with a box of crayons, symbolic of their early days on the campus of Wooster School. The students were: Harrison Becker of Ridgefield; Abby Curillo of Danbury; Jada Cushnie of Carmel, N.Y.; Trevor Jones of Danbury; Jamie MacNutt of New Milford; Kathryn Madaloni of Ridgefield; Danielle Martin of Pound Ridge, N.Y.; Matt McCutcheon of Danbury; Cole Munk of Carmel, N.Y.; Nicolai Nosworthy of Danbury; Leonard Reid of New Milford; Glenn Unger of Brookfield; and Aaron Young of Norwalk. 

The convocation concluded with a presentation of the song “A Brand New Day,” performed by Middle and Upper School musicians and singers.

Wooster School is an independent, co-educational college preparatory day school, serving students from Fairfield and Westchester counties. Located in Danbury, the school serves students from pre-K through Grade 12.
