DANBURY, Conn. — A total of 37 Danbury elementary and middle school students were selected at at the recent districtwide Invention Convention to head to this year’s annual Connecticut Invention Convention.

On April 30 at the University of Connecticut, 13 Westside Middle School Academy students and 24 Danbury elementary school students will compete with thousands of students from around the state. More than 130 Connecticut schools participate in the event annually.

The Danbury schools had their districtwide Invention Convention March 22-23 at Western Connecticut State University.

“Congratulations to all of our students. All of them put in countless hours thinking up their inventions, refining them, writing about the process in their Inventor’s Log, and working on their written and oral presentation skills. All are to be commended for their efforts,” said Harry Rosvally, Danbury K-12 STEM curriculum administrator.

The Invention Convention is part of the Danbury Public Schools science curriculum. For three weeks students engage in coming up with ideas and putting them into motion. One of the crucial learning curves for students is to figure out how to solve problems with their inventions and tweak them to perfection. The invention convention fosters interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics learning for students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
