A woman was stabbed in the eye during a fight following a traffic crash at an area gas station.

Police were called Thursday to the Food Bag, 90 West St., Danbury for a motor vehicle accident with injuries, said Danbury Police Det. Lt. Mark Williams.

When the officers arrived they found a woman inside the Food Bag with a stab/slash wound to her right eye, face, and hand. It was learned that the woman had been injured with a knife when attempting to fight off a physical assault by another adult female, identified as Rosa Iris Tolentino-Reyes.

Further investigation indicates that the injured female was driving a vehicle that accidentally struck another vehicle within the gas pump area of Food Bag.

After moving her vehicle away from the gas pumps, Tolentino-Reyes, a passenger of the vehicle that was struck, approached the woman of the other vehicle and began to assault her, Williams said.

The investigation indicates that Reyes assaulted the other female as she was still seated in her stopped vehicle, with the door closed. During the assault, Reyes caused the stab/slash wound to the other woman’s face and hand with a knife that was produced by the victim.

Reyes was arrested and transported to the police department and charged with assault and breach of peace.

She is currently being held at the Danbury Police Department on a $25,000 bond pending release or arraignment.

Due to the extent of the injury sustained by the victim, she was later transported to the Yale-New Haven Hospital for specialized care. The eye injury was described as serious and will require immediate surgery.
