Westport Police Track Down Stratford Man Suspected In Hit-And-Run Accident

WESTPORT, Conn. — A driver was able to get the license plate of a driver who rear-ended her vehicle Wednesday afternoon on Wilton Road and fled the scene, Westport police said.

The motorist was stopped at a red light on Wilton Road at 3;30 p.m. when her vehicle was struck from behind, police said. The car that hit her fled the scene, but Westport Police tracked down the driver's identity from the license plate information.

He was identified as Harold Macdaniel of Stratford, police said. Stratford Police Department picked him up at his home, and Westport officers picked him up at the Stratford Police Headquarters.

Macdaniel of 59 Marina Drive, Stratford, was charged with evading responsibility. He posted $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 29.
