The incident took place around 11:50 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, when the victim reported to Darien Police that their wallet had been stolen while taking a class at the YMCA, said Sgt. James Palmieri.

According to the victim, they had placed the wallet in a locker but failed to lock the locker. When he returned around 1230 p.m., his wallet was gone.

Later that evening, a man knocked on the victim's door and handed over the wallet which he said he found on a railing at the Stamford Mall on the 7th-floor near the restaurant, Palmieri said.

The only thing missing from the wallet was $200 in cash.
