A teenager suffered critical injuries in a rollover crash involving a pickup truck in North Stamford.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, Stamford Police officers responded to the area of 617 Webbs Hill Rd. off Long Ridge Road on the report of a single-vehicle crash where the vehicle was reported to be rolled over and a person was in the street bleeding.

Officers arrived to find the vehicle, a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, lying on its side. The operator of the vehicle, who was identified as Donald Berrios-Ruiz, an 18-year-old Stamford resident, was outside of the vehicle. He did not appear to have suffered any major injuries.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 14-year-old Stamford resident, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision. He was initially transported to Stamford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but his medical condition continued to decline. He was later transported by helicopter to Yale-New Haven hospital in critical condition.

The initial on-scene investigation revealed that speed may have been a factor in the crash, police said.

The Stamford Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is asking anyone that may have witnessed the crash or has any other information regarding the crash to please call (203) 977-4712.
