Speeding Danbury Motorist Had Active Arrest Warrant, New Canaan Police Say

An early morning speeding stop in New Canaan led to the arrest of a man from Danbury who had an active warrant out for his arrest, police said.

An officer from the New Canaan Police Department stopped Danbury resident Hector Antonio Ares, 25, shortly before 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, when he was spotted driving 63 mph in a posted 40 mph zone on Smith Ridge Road.

Police said that during the stop, a search was conducted of the vehicle and further investigation found that Ares had an active Paperless Rearrest Warrant Network (PRAWN) warrant for his arrest in Monroe.

Ares was taken into custody, arrested on the warrant and cited for speeding. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 17 to respond to the charge.
