The man who was found dead inside the family home by his mother has been identified by the state's chief medical examiner's office.
The office said Richard O'Dell, 42, of Apollo Road, in Bethel, died of multiple gunshots wounds to the head.
Bethel Police responded to the home around 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, after a call from O'Dell's mother saying she believed her son had committed suicide.
Once on the scene, officers determined that the death was a homicide and a suspect was quickly identified, said the Bethel Police.
The suspect has been identified by multiple sources as O'Dell's brother, Matthew O'Dell, who was located and detained shortly after the murder by the New Milford Police as a result of crimes committed in their town earlier in the day.
Bethel police have not identified the victim or the suspect or whether the younger brother has been charged.
