DANBURY, Conn. — The probable cause hearing for a 15-year-old charged with felony murder in Danbury last month has been delayed while lawyers on both sides await the medical reports on the 18-year-old victim, according to the News-Times.

Ronald Massagli, who faces life in prison if convicted, made a brief court appearance Monday, the News-Times said. But his attorney asked the court 'hold the clock" for the mandatory hearing until Oct. 3, the News-Times said.

Massagli was arrested Aug. 16 and charged as an adult with felony murder as well as robbery, criminal mischief, larceny and conspiracy in the case. He was held on on $1 million bond at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center.

Gabriel Bara-Bardo, 18, was found alone and unconscious in the roadway next to his vehicle on Abbott Street at 5:46 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, by officers who responded to a report of suspicious activities, police said.

He died later without regaining consciousness, police said. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that Bara-Bardo died of complications following blunt impact to the head and neck, and the manner of death was homicide.

Bardo had gone to Abbott Street to sell about $60 worth of marijuana when he was attacked by several teens, including Massagli, according to the News-Times. Massagli said Bardo owed him for 7 grams of pot that had been confiscated last fall from Bardo by New York State Police, the News-Times said, citing the arrest warrant.

Lorenzo Santana, 16, who was also charged last month with felony murder, told police that Bardo collapsed after he hit him with a “random punch,” the News-Times said. Santana was also held on $1 million bond.

Two other teens have been arrested in connection with the case.

A juvenile male was charged with second-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit the two earlier charges and two counts of criminal liability.

A teenage girl was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving as well as the charges for the juvenile above.
