CT Woman Killed After Being Rear-Ended In Crash, State Police Say

A Connecticut woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash after allegedly being rear-ended by another vehicle.

Marie Mathieu, age 58, was killed around 5:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4, in Hartford County on Route 2 in Glastonbury, said the Connecticut State Police.

According to police, a Mercedes-Benz, driven by Mark Herbst, of Hartford, was traveling on Route 2 westbound, east of the Exit 9 on-ramp, when he rear-ended Mathieu's vehicle, located on the shoulder of Route 2 westbound, at the top of the Exit 9 on-ramp, state police said.

Herbst was not injured in the crash and refused medical treatment Mathieu, of Colchester in New London County, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. She died a short time later, state police said.

The case remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone driving in the area who may have a vehicle equipped with a dashboard camera and were driving through the area of the collision scene at the time of the crash, to contact Trooper Wilson.
