CT Duo Charged After Shots Fired Following Altercation

Two Connecticut men were arrested after an altercation outside a nightclub led to gunfire.

Richard Ortiz, age 44, and Anthony Terrence Pooser, age 36, both of Meriden, were arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 13, after Meriden police responded to a call for shots fired.

Their arrests stemmed from an investigation conducted into an altercation that took place outside of the One Twelve Lounge located at 278 W. Main St. that resulted in shots being fired, said Meriden PD Lt. J. Mennone.

 There were no injuries sustained in the incident.

Ortiz was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm. 

He was released after posting a $150,000 bond.

Pooser was charged with tampering with evidence and interfering with an officer.

He was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

"We would like to inform the public that the Meriden Police Department takes any act of violent crime very seriously," Mennone said. "As always, we ask the members of the public for your assistance in any case you may have the knowledge to help prevent, deter, and/or solve them."
