Arconti was chosen for "his constant efforts at conducting the business of the department, his deep community involvement and his willingness to go the extra mile to assist department members in achieving their individual career goals," according to a press release.
"As a command officer he is widely respected as a resourceful and dedicated leader," representatives said in the release. "His service to the department, as well as to his community and family is exemplary. Captain Arconti has been a member of the department since 1985 and prior to that he worked many years with the Volunteer Department serving at Engine 7."
The public is invited to attend a dinner honoring Arconti set for 6 p.m. Oct. 3 at Anthony's Lake Club on Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Danbury.
The firefighters also will be part of the statewide dinner honoring all of the Exchange Clubs Firefighters of the Year from Connecticut Oct. 17 at the Aqua Turf in Southington.
