William G. Wilson, 86, Of Danbury, Self-Employed Trucker

DANBURY, Conn. - William G. Wilson, Sr. of Danbury, formerly of Ridgefield, died Saturday, Oct. 19. He was 86.

Wilson was born May 4, 1927, in Hoboken, N.J., to John and Susan (Connors) Wilson. Raised in Weehawken, N.J., he attended local schools and graduated from Weehawken High School. A retired teamster truck dDriver with Local #560 of Kearney, N.J., he was a self-employed trucker and later was employed as a teamster with Ward Trucking Co., the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and Roadway. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. A resident of Ridgefield and Danbury since 1969 coming from New Jersey, he was a former baseball coach of the Ridgefield Senior Babe Ruth and Babe Ruth baseball teams. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish of Danbury.

Wilson is survived by his daughter, Margaret M. Wilson of Bethel; sons, Billy Wilson (Carol Ann) of Fairfield, John Wilson (Terry) and Tom Wilson (Kim) all of Danbury; four grandchildren; a great granddaughter; several nieces, nephews; and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Elinor (Rafferty) Wilson.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 in St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Interment will take place at the direction of the family.
