Lorenzo Paniagua, 96, Of Danbury, Retired Cement Plant Supervisor

DANBURY, Conn. - Lorenzo Paniagua of Danbury died Wednesday, March 19. He was 96.

Paniagua was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Antonio and Pascuala (Rivas) Paniagua. He attended schools in Puerto Rico and was a retired cement plant supervisor. He was a U.S. Army veteran, attaining the rank of sergeant.

A resident of Danbury for the past 17 years, coming from San Juan, he was a member of St. Peter Parish of Danbury.

Paniagua is survived by his sons, Miguel Paniagua and Tony Paniagua; daughters, Carmen Paniagua and Leuda Cora; daughter-in-law, Yolanda Paniagua; brothers, Gilberto Paniagua, Victor Paniagua and Enrique Paniagua; sisters, Angelita Paniagua, Carmen Paniagua, Nilda Paniagua and Andrea Paniagua; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Sunday, March 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 24 in St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury. Interment will take place at the direction of the family.
