DANBURY, Conn. – The Danbury Public Library has declared Aug. 10-15 as Erase Away Your Fines Week.
Library customers who have accumulated overdue fines are welcome to return their items and bring along a school supply for each overdue item and their fines will be “erased” from their account.
The program does not apply to items that have been lost or damaged.
All of the school supplies will be donated to the United Way of Western Connecticut’s Back to School Program.
“This is our second year offering the school supply fine amnesty program,” said Darlene Garrison, circulation department manager, in a press release. “It benefits the community and it helps to get our materials returned and back on the shelves for more library customers to utilize – it’s a win-win. We found that last year, people brought in donations even though they didn’t have fines. We welcome all donations to this very worthy project.”
For additional information, contact Garrison at 203-797-4513.
The library is at 170 Main St.
