DANBURY, Conn. -- A local man who faced more than 100 years in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl, cried when the charges against him were dropped on Thursday in Superior Court, according to newstimes.
Jose Alonso, who was charged in February 2015 and has maintained his innocence, faced more than a dozen counts of sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl, said newstimes.
The charges were dismissed after prosecutors preparing for the case received different stories from the child and it became clear she was not truthful about the events, added newstimes.
His attorney, Thomas Leaf, said Alonso holds no ill will towards the child and even hugged the child's mother following the hearing, said newstimes.
