Five percent of every purchase made that at Whole Foods Market in Danbury will be donated to the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut to support its health and wellness and education programming.

On four designated days over the course of the year, Whole Foods Market Danbury holds community giving days, also known as “five percent days."

On these days, five percent of the store’s net sales are donated to a local nonprofit whose mission is aligned with Whole Foods’ commitment to health and education causes.

The five percent day will benefit the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut and its work to improve the health of greater Danbury residents, combat childhood obesity, fight the growing diabetes epidemic, and close the achievement gap.

"Five percent days are an easy and effective way to support the Danbury community,” said Marie Miszewski, president and chief executive officer of Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut.

“When you shop at Whole Foods and restock your pantries on five percent days, you support the important work that nonprofits like the Y do to positively impact the health and well-being of thousands of area residents. We’re very grateful for Whole Foods’ support and encourage everyone to 'shop and give back' on Tuesday, Jan. 13.”
