DANBURY, Conn. – Four local high school students were honored recently by Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) for their service to the local YVC of Western Connecticut program. The students received the 100-in-1 Award for youth who have volunteered at least 100 hours with the YVC in a single year.

These are the four honorees: • Korrine Nelson – Danbury High School • Misha Prukalski – Danbury High School • Matthias Siber – Danbury High School • Bonnie VosWinkel – Immaculate High School

“We’re so proud of the hard-working youth in the YVC of Western Connecticut program,” said David Battey, founder and president of YVC, which is based in Kansas City. “Volunteering 100 hours in a single year is a great accomplishment for anyone, let alone teenagers balancing school and other extracurricular activities.” YVC of Western Connecticut engages youth ages 11-18 in quality, team-based service-learning projects. For five years, the YVC of Western Connecticut has engaged young people from diverse backgrounds in service projects helping the community. Nearly 200 youth served 3,679 hours with YVC of Western Connecticut during the last program year.
