DANBURY, Conn. -- On Valentine's, a his team at Regional Hospice and Home Care helped grant the wish of their 21-year-old patient with a rare form of cancer.

Marc Anthony is the music idol of Cody Maldonado, who's been struggling with Ewing's sarcoma, a somewhat rare kind of cancer which targets bones, for the past four years. Knowing of Maldonado's fandom, his team made a dream night happen. Within a few days, they secured tickets, courtesy of Sony Music Corp. and Anthony's Magnus Media, and a chauffeured limo, courtesy of Webster Bank Arena.

At 6 p.m. on Valentine's Day, Cody, his mom, Gloria, and his sister, Vanessa, stepped into the limo and the excitement and anticipation of the past several days became reality. They were escorted to their seats: fifth row center, barely 20 feet from Cody's idol.

The opening act was comedian Joey Vega, whose jokes included those about Donald Trump and Latinos. "We laughed so hard the whole time he was on stage, and it felt so good," said Gloria. Vega met with the family and took pictures with Cody and Vanessa.

Then Anthony hit the stage to thunderous cheers and applause. Even Cody couldn’t stay seated. The hour-and-a-half performance flew by for the Maldonados, as Anthony performed his hits to a packed house of 10,000.

As she talked about Cody having the energy to enjoy every moment of his dream come true -- from the anticipation of the planning to the memories they now savor -- Gloria was filled with emotion. "Cody was so happy; we were all so happy," she said. "I didn't think we could be that happy anymore, and I am so appreciative for this special gift for Cody. We will never forget this night together."
