DANBURY, CONN. The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut announced that its first media workshop of 2015 is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. in Danbury.
The ongoing @287 series of workshops, which cover media relations, marketing, and fundraising, continues with Seeing Eye to I: Media Relations for the Working Artist at the Cultural Alliances office and gallery space on 287 Main St. in Danbury.
Arts publicist and festival programmer Ted Killmer will moderate the workshop.
Killmer is a 35-year veteran of the public relations business, and currently organizes and publicizes CityCenter Danbury's First Night, as well as providing media relations for the Cultural Alliance.
The workshop adapts the creative processes that inform the easel, black box, or center ring to assist the artist in effective and meaningful outreach, providing a practical how to in public relations.
The current trend in the practice of public relations centers on branding and abundant social media hits. Not so, says Killmer. Its relationships with stakeholders - and that includes the media.
Tickets are free for Cultural Alliance members and $15 for nonmembers. Order tickets online at www.eventbrite.com.
