DANBURY, Conn. -- The Forever Grateful music festival will double in size when it returns to the Ives Concert Park in Danbury on Aug. 20.

The festival celebrates the music of the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Allman Brothers and Bob Marley. It will be performed live on the main stage by Shakedown, Cats Under the Stars, Brothers of the Road, Terrapin and Ras Spective. The daylong festival boasts 10 bands, two stages, plus food, beer and vendors.

As a longtime fan of the Grateful Dead, Cathy Moore, owner of Promotions In Motion, a special events marketing and production company in Danbury, easily saw the vision for this event when she produced and launched the inaugural festival in 2015 in celebration of Grateful Dead's 50th anniversary. This year the festival returns and has doubled in size.

"We are excited to once again to be partnering with Ives Concert Park. This year we not only have the music of the Grateful Dead performed by local artists," says Moore, "but we've included the Allman Brothers, Jerry Garcia Band and Bob Marley into the mix, which makes for one serious day of music, dancing and jams — all in Grateful Dead style. And we wouldn't have it any other way!"

Forever Grateful will have continuous music throughout the day from 1 to 10 p.m. The event's second stage will host local musical talent from Jen Durkin presents The Funky Dolla Bill, Union Rail, The Native Heads and Friends, Father Nelson and the Backsliders, Phoenix Tree and MSM Band. Comedian Pat Oates and other comedic performers will also be on stage throughout the day.

The festival will be held at Ives Concert Park, 43 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury, on Saturday, Aug. 20. Gates open at 1 p.m. “Forever Grateful” tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Limited VIP tickets are available for $45. Kids 12 and under are free.
