Danbury's ESCAPE Hosts Art Exhibit, Event Based On Transportation

DANBURY, Conn. -- Car and motorcycle fans are invited to a special event Sunday to enjoy a new art exhibit dubbed "Transportation" on display at the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut’s ESCAPE to the Arts in Danbury.

The photographs and paintings depict various means of transportation -- including cars, trains, planes and boats -- while the sculptures are constructed with repurposed parts. Works by local artists are complimented with related antiques and collectible items. Many of the works serve as a tribute to the past.

The public is invited to the event on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. Activities include a classic car and motorcycle show and an artist’s meet and greet in the gallery with refreshments. Kid’s activities include painting a wooden toy car, a paper airplane competition and a bicycle design competition.

"This is an exhibit with universal appeal. People of all ages and interests can relate to the theme of transportation," said a statement. "From motorcycle license plates to antique lanterns, sculptures created from rudders and car hoods, photographs and model trains; there is something for everyone."

Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Tuesdays to Fridays and 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays. This show will run through Oct. 31.

For more information, call 203-794-1413. ESCAPE to the Arts is at 293 Main St.
