The calendar includes several appearances from local experts, a gold sale fundraiser, a pie sale and free tours of public buildings. The calendar kicks off at 2 p.m. Sept. 21 when retired Sgt. Jerry Longo of the Connecticut State Police, president of the Connecticut State Police Alumni Association and one of the founders of The CT State Police Museum in Meriden, presents the history of the Connecticut State Police, according to a press release from the Danbury Museum & Historical Society. The free program is part of the Hometown Heroes exhibit.
The museum will welcome Bob Doyle of Liberty Gold, Inc. for another three-day gold sale fundraiser next week.
"In addition to helping the museum, we'll serve as the host space for other local nonprofits and their patrons to raise monies for their cause," representatives said in the release.
The scheduled hours for the gold sale are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Sept. 26 also will mark the kickoff of the annual Lyman Orchards pie sale fundraiser. Lyman Orchards is in Middlefield and for the past 13 years, readers of Connecticut Magazine have voted its generations-old recipe the 'Best Apple Pie' in the state, according to the release. Residents can pick up their order forms at the Danbury Museum from 10 a.m .to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
On Sept. 28, the group will celebrate the Smithsonian Museum Day Live.
"The Danbury Museum & Historical Society is pleased to once again be a participating partner and featured venue for this nationwide event," representatives said in the release. "We'll be offering free tours of our historic buildings -- The Rider House, The Dodd Hat Shop, The Schoolhouse and The Marian Anderson Studio from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m."
Residents can visit www.smithsonian.com/museumday to purchase and print a pass.
The museum also will host its third Junk in the Trunk Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28. Vendors are needed for the sale and others scheduled for October and November.
