DANBURY, Conn. -- Visitors to the CityCenter Danbury Farmers' Market soon will be able to enjoy music while shopping the market's colorful cornucopia of fruits and veggies thanks to $1,700 from Greystar Real Estate Partners LLC.
Also new this year, the market has been changed to Saturdays from Fridays to give busy workers a chance to enjoy the market.
"We believe that farmers' markets are an integral part of any thriving community and are happy to be able to enhance this weekly event by sponsoring live music," said Justin Gaboury, senior community manager of Kennedy Flats, which overlooks Kennedy Park. "Having access to fresh local produce and handcrafted items outside of our doorstep is a tremendous asset to downtown residents."
Working with Western Connecticut State University, the market will offer the new vibes from the school's musical troupes, including pop, jazz, acoustic and a capella.
The market, recognized for its highly successful nutrition-in-action program, "Better Food for Better Health," will open Saturday at Kennedy Park (Elm Street at Main Street) and continues Saturdays through Oct. 22. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additional money has been provided, in part, by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture through the Community Investment Act and Fairfield County's Community Foundation. For more information, visit www.danburyfarmersmarket.org.
