David Vincent Coffey, of New Britain, was previously tied to the April 23, 1989, kidnapping and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in Danbury, police said. Now, investigators say he is also connected to the abduction and sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman from the same Danbury home in January 1989.

Both victims were reportedly taken from the same residence on Peace Street, according to News-Times.

Coffey faces charges of first-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit first-degree kidnapping in the latest indictment. However, authorities say the statute of limitations has expired on the sexual assault charges.

Coffey, a former Danbury resident, was 17 at the time of both attacks. A second suspect who was allegedly involved is expected to face charges once authorities locate him.

New forensic DNA technology linked Coffey to one of the crimes in 2024, which led police to build a case connecting him to the second attack using the newly uncovered evidence, officials said.

Coffey is currently being held on a $750,000 bond, police said.
