FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Clarissa Moore asked Mr. Handyman interior designer Linda DeSilva and a remodeling team to create a contemporary, clean look in her Westport home’s master bathroom.
Mr. Handyman’s team delivered exactly that, and Moore came away thrilled with the final product.
“They were very personable,’’ Moore said. “What I liked the best is if something looked off, there were no issues in changing it. They were perfectionists right down to the smallest detail. Sometimes when you’re working with contractors, they only want to do it one way. But Mr. Handyman took direction well. They were flexible with me, and I was flexible with them.”
Mr. Handyman also renovated a guest bathroom for Moore, with the entire project requiring several months to complete. In the master bath,Mr. Handyman ripped the room down to the studs and started from scratch. The renovation team installed a Jacuzzi to replace a regular-sized tub, and installed new fixtures, vanity, tiling, paint and hardware.
“Linda was incredibly helpful and came up with a lot of ideas,’’ Moore said. “They were subtle changes. There were changes you don’t think about that much, but subliminally they make a big difference.”
DeSilva said it helped to have Moore’s input on the project, because she was an educated consumer.
“It was nice because the ideas I presented to her were well-received,’’ DeSilva said. “She wanted functionality and simple elegance. She knew what she liked. On a few things she didn’t immediately envision the look that I was striving for, but she had the confidence in us. She was so glad when she saw the finished product.”
DeSilva joined Mr. Handyman earlier this year. The Fairfield company is the largest in the Mr. Handyman international franchise system and is the first to offer design/build remodeling services.
“We want to guide clients when we work with them,’’ DeSilva said. “You want to have the latest styles available but you want to keep it your personal style, too. You have to push the envelope just a little bit without going overboard. It was a nice compromise with the choices she was given and the selections she made.”
Mr. Handyman accomplished the project near the budget that Moore had in mind, too.
“The finished space simply exceeded my expectations,’’ Moore said. “I go into the bathroom and I feel an overwhelming sense of calm. It’s exactly what I hoped to have when I was in my Jacuzzi.”
