The Brookfield residence is represented by Northern Fairfield County agent Kellie Martone, and is offered at $879,000.

Blackwell made his film debut in a 1910 production of the American classic “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” and appeared in more than 180 productions throughout his career. He was the last silent actor to play Sherlock Holmes, in a 1929 German production of “The Hound of the Baskervilles.”

Blackwell also served as a producer and writer for numerous films, eventually turning to live theater. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Blackwell and his wife moved to 34 Obtuse Road North, also known as the historic Dumbarton Farm, in 1934. Relocated from its original roadside site during Blackwell’s occupancy, the house, which was built in 1800, now rests on a 4.51-acre plot that is set back and surrounded by trees, rock walls, and 120 acres of protected land.

The estate includes a 13-room Colonial with five bedrooms, four full baths and two half-baths, as well as a separate guest cottage with two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and full bath.

The main house contains a versatile floor plan featuring original chestnut beams, four fireplaces, two staircases and a formal living room and dining room.

Additional spaces include a den, fully updated kitchen with a butler’s pantry and breakfast nook, a family room, sunroom, study, and laundry and mud rooms.

Upstairs, the master suite has an additional studio, along with a spacious his and hers bathroom and dressing room. The guest suite contains another family room and full bath.
