Video: Officers Hospitalized After Suspect Crashes Porsche Into Cruiser On LI, Police Say

New video has been released of an alleged Long Island drug dealer who intentionally rammed his Porsche into a police cruiser, hospitalizing two officers.

Nassau County Police detectives were on an investigation in Hempstead near the intersection of Long Beach Road and Waukena Avenue on Friday, May 1 in Oceanside which led to the arrest of Romaine Robinson.

The detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop of Romaine’s vehicle, at which point he sped away in his gray Porsche northbound on Long Beach Road, Nassau County Police said.

Robinson, age 25, of Hempstead, was later located on Mahland Place, at which point he put the Porsche in reverse and intentionally sped into a pursuing police cruiser, injuring multiple officers before his vehicle became disabled, according to police.

When approached by officers, Robinson refused to comply with verbal commands to exit his vehicle and actively resisted arrest. He was placed under arrest after a brief struggle, police said.

Further investigation found that Robinson was found to be in possession of a white rock-like substance that was believed to be cocaine.

Two officers were transported to an area hospital for treatment following Robinson’s arrest. Both suffered injuries to their head, neck, and face, with one officer reporting a fractured hand.

Robinson was charged with:

  • Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance;
  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance;
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance;
  • Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance;
  • Criminal possession of a weapon;
  • Four counts of assault;
  • Criminal mischief;
  • Reckless endangerment;
  • Tampering with physical evidence;
  • Resisting arrest.
