Shavon Littleton, 33, of Hartford, was arrested by Fairfield Police for six counts of larceny on Sunday, Feb. 9, for an incident that took place on Dec. 4, 2019, said the Fairfield Police.
The investigation began after the department received a 911 call from a resident on Forest Avenue reporting that a black female had taken packages from the front porches of several homes on the street.
The caller was able to give police a description of the vehicle the woman, later identified as Littleton, was driving.
Officers responded within three minutes of the 911 call but were unable to locate the female or the vehicle.
Using the Ring Neighbors' Portal for the first time, a request for video footage was sent to Ring subscribers in the immediate area, police said.
In less than 30 minutes, a resident of Forest Avenue shared footage of a possible suspect.
The resident told officers the description matched that of an Instacart delivery driver who had delivered groceries to her home just prior to the reported package thefts.
After a review of the video, police were able to determine a green Mitsubishi Mirage was the vehicle used, and the license plate on the vehicle was registered to another vehicle.
Using license plate recognition technology officers then found a photograph of the vehicle and the driver's license photo who the car was registered to, which matched that of the woman (Littleton) captured in the surveillance.
The information led police to Littleton, who received a warrant to place a GPS tracking device on her vehicle.
Following an investigation, Littleton was stopped on Dec. 14, 2019, and found to have a number of items from the thefts in her vehicle. She was charged at the time with misuse of plates, operating an unregistered vehicle and failure to have insurance.
Little was released following her arrest this week and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
