A 41-year-old is in critical condition after being hit by an SUV while crossing a roadway in Fairfield County.

The crash took place around 10:55 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, in the area of 162 Grove St., in Stamford, said Stamford Police Sgt. Jeffrey Booth.

According to Booth, a 2005 Dodge Durango, being driven by a 35-year-old Stamford resident, was traveling southbound on Grove Street when it struck the person.

It is believed that the pedestrian, a Stamford resident, was attempting to cross Grove St. going from west to east at the time of the incident, Booth said.

As a result of the collision, the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Stamford Hospital. As of Wednesday, April 14, the pedestrian was in critical, but stable condition.

The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

The operator of the vehicle was identified and is cooperating with the investigation.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is asking that anyone that may have further information on this collision contact 203-977-4712.
