It happened just after 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11 in Woodbury on Jericho Turnpike.

While approaching Crossways Park Drive, a 2016 Toyota Camry being driven by a 28-year-old man attempted to make a left turn from eastbound Jericho Turnpike into the Fairhaven Apartment complex before colliding with a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle.

As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old operator of the motorcycle was ejected and suffered multiple trauma injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbs to those injuries and was pronounced dead by a staff physician. 

The 28-year-old was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, treated and released.

The investigation into this accident continues. 

The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
