ID Released For Woman Found Dead Inside LI Home Following Fire

A woman found dead inside a Bayville home that burned has been identified by police.

Sonia Baron, 94, of Bayville, was found following a fire at her home on Bayville Park Boulevard around 1:58 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, said the Nassau County Police.

Another resident, a man, was also found inside the home and is listed in critical condition, police said.

When Bayville Fire Department responded to a 911 call for the fire, they found the residence fully engulfed in flames, police said.

The Bayville Fire Department was assisted by eight other local departments including more than 100 firefighters. 

Three firefighters were transported to a local hospital for treatment for minor injuries. 

 Arson/Bomb Squad detectives and Fire Marshalls responded to the scene to investigate the fire.
