While on the stand Tuesday, Dec. 3, Dulos testified that his late father-in-law, Hillard Farber, was like a second father to him and had loaned him money to help start his luxury home building business, the Fore Group Inc.

His mother-in-law, Gloria Farber, claims Dulos owes her $2.5 million and had stopped paying back loans after the couple separated in 2017.

William Murray, who is representing Dulos, said he owes nothing because the money from Hillard Farber were gifts for his business.

The civil lawsuit is separate from the criminal charges against Fotis Dulos in connection with his estranged wife's disappearance.

Before his testimony, Superior Court Judge Cesar Noble cautioned Dulos that any testimony he made during the civil trial could be used against him in the looming criminal trial.

Dulos is free on a $1 million bond after being arrested twice on charges of tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution in connection with his wife's disappearance.

Jennifer Dulos has been missing since Friday, May 24, when she was last seen dropping her children off at school in New Canaan.

Since that time, the couple's five children have been living with their grandmother and nanny in Manhattan.

Fotis Dulos, and his one-time live-in girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, were arrested after police received evidence that he dumped garbage bags containing Farber Dulos' DNA and other items in more than 30 dumpsters and garbage cans in Hartford after her disappearance.

In a detailed arrest report, police believe that Fotis Dulos was lying in wait for his wife when she returned from dropping off her children at school, killed her, and then disposed of her body and cleaned up the crime scene in the garage of her home.

Police have spent hundreds of hours searching ponds, parks, and a large trash plant after she vanished, but haven't found Farber Dulos.

Anyone with information regarding Jennifer Dulos is asked to call 203-594-3544.
