Covid-19: Three Cities Report More Than 200 New Incidents, Each, Since Friday

More than 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Connecticut over the weekend.

And three cities saw the number of residents sick from the virus jump by hundreds of people.

Meanwhile, three more communities have joined the growing list of communities where more than 1,000 residents have contracted the virus.

As COVID-19 infection rates spike in various communities, the number of daily new illnesses has leaped forward.

From Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 25, there were 2,047 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Connecticut. This data was released on Monday, Oct. 26.

There are now three more communities - 17 in total - in Connecticut where 1,000 or more people have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic, according to the most recent state data, Monday, Oct. 26.

Those communities are:

Fairfield, where 1,041 positive tests have been reported

Sratford - 1,023

West Hartford - 1,023.

Among the communities where 1,000 or more COVID-19 cases have been reported, Norwalk gained the most new-cases since Wednesday, Oct. 21 - with 253 new incidents reported.

Bridgeport and Hartford also reported 200 or more new COVID-19 incidents since Friday with 207 new cases in Bridgeport and 229 in Hartford.

Other communities that reached this sad milestone are listed below along with the number of total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic to Oct. 26, and, in parenthesis (), how many new cases have been added since Wednesday, Oct. 21:

Danbury - 3,191 (149)

East Hartfrod - 1,309 (57)

Greenwich - 1,029 (29)

Hamden - 1,226 (44)

Hartford - 3,887 (229)

Meriden - 1,215 (56)

New Britain - 1,834 (80)

New Haven - 3,309 (140)

Norwalk - 2,724 (253)

Stamford - 4,006 (158)

Waterbury - 2,848 (167)

West Haven - 1,298 (44).
