Police in Connecticut are seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to track down a 24-year-old woman who allegedly stole her victim’s identity and stole more than $50,000 from bank accounts.

The Naugatuck Police Department released an alert this week for Stephanie Amber Metevier, who is known to frequent Hamden and Milford.

According to investigators, the department holds an arrest warrant dating back to an incident when Metevier participated in a burglary that allowed her to gain access to the financial information of her victim. That information was then used to steal more than $50,000 from multiple bank accounts last fall.

Metevier has warrants for charges of larceny, identity theft, forgery and burglary. There are additional suspects who have already been arrested, and Metevier is the last person wanted for her involvement in the scheme, police said.

Anyone with information regarding Metevier’s whereabouts, or who recognizes her has been asked to contact the Naugatuck Police Department by calling (203) 729-5221 or the Tip Line at (203) 720-1010.
