Magic Fountain, 498 Morris Ave., Summit. Winner of Daily Voice’s Best Ice Cream in Union County poll, Magic Fountain is the place to go for soft-serve in Union County. Online reviews call it a Summit staple; check out the magic blends.

Zita’s Homemade Ice Cream, 1790 Springfield Ave., New Providence. Named for the family’s grandmother and around since 2000, Zita’s ranks high on Yelp and in the Daily Voice poll. Ice cream—including dairy-free flavors, Italian ices, yogurt and more—is on the menu here. Try their signature flavor: 91716, a blend of chocolate-covered pretzels, caramel, peanut butter and chocolate chips in vanilla ice cream.

Yo Addiction, 100 US Rte. 22, Middle Isle, Springfield. Yelp reviewers love this self-serve yogurt lounge, which also serves Nasto’s ice cream. Toppings galore, family-friendly atmosphere and rotating yogurt flavors like Yellow-Cake Batter Gelato and Euro-Tart keep customers coming back.

Vanilla Bean Creamery, 22 North Ave. West, Cranford. The place to find award-winning Bananas Foster ice cream. Vanilla Bean Creamery offers over 32 super-premium hard ice creams with a weekly flavor rotation. Check out the seasonal faves like summer’s Glazed Donut. Known for its friendly and fast service, online reviewers often lament that they don’t live closer to visit more often.

Bohemian Raspberry, 219 South Ave. E, Westfield. More than ice cream, the cleverly named establishment boasts a full-service espresso bar as well as 17 flavors of frozen yogurt, soft-serve ice cream and sorbet.
