FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — A sunny outlook is in the forecast for Tuesday with spring weather lingering throughout Fairfield County into Wednesday.

Outside exercise or trips with kids to a park will be especially pleasant once Tuesday morning's cold front leaves the region. Areas north and west of New York City will see a mild day, with highs approaching 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Cooler air will return Tuesday evening though highs still can be well into the 60s across the region. Long Island and southern Connecticut should remain in the 50s until the front lifts back to the north Wednesday, bringing unseasonably warm weather.

Expect patchy fog early Wednesday morning; otherwise, the day will be a sunny one, with highs near 66 degrees.

Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 51 degrees and light winds.

Thursday may bring showers in the afternoon then partly sunny skies, with a high near 60 degrees.

There is a chance of showers Thursday night, under mostly cloudy skies, with low temperatures dipping to around 49 degrees.

The sun will re-emerge Friday when the mercury will not quite reach 60, climbing as high as 59 degrees.
