BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The city will temporarily close the East Washington Avenue bridge o Sept. 6, so workers can complete mechanical and electrical repairs to the span.

Storm and saltwater damage require a detour route around the bridge over Bridgeport Harbor. Traffic will be routed to River Street from Knowlton Street heading west and North Washington Avenue to River Street from Housatonic Avenue heading east.

The road will be closed in both directions for about six hours beginning at 8 a.m.
