A Fairfield County man is behind bars after being charged with allegedly producing child pornography. Ross DeLibro, age 53, of Shelton, was charged in June with the production of child pornography following an investigation by the Connecticut State Police and Homeland Security. Here's Percentage Of Parents Who Fear Their Kids Are Becoming ‘Internet Zombies,' Survey Says
A large majority of parents in America are concerned that their children’s time spent mindlessly scrolling through social media, playing games, and bingeing streaming services are turning them into “Internet zombies.” A new survey polling 2,000 parents of school-aged children found that 64 percent are concerned about the amount of screen time their kids spend on the Internet, while two-thirds believe that their overall behavior has been altered due to the amount of time spent online. Scammers Steal $26,000 From Fairfield County Resident Through Elaborate Bitcoin Scam
Scammers running an elaborate Bitcoin scheme bilked a Fairfield County resident out of more than $25,000 after allegedly hacking his computer, police said. Officers from the Darien Police Department recently met with a Hollow Tree Ridge Road resident regarding a possible computer scam. The victim told officers he was using the Internet when he noticed a pop-up that alleged his computer had been hacked, prompting him to click the link, at which point an operator advised that other sites were accessing his bank account and had secured money from it. Massive Internet Outage: Hundreds Of News, Streaming Services, Social Media Sites Go Down
Large parts of the Internet went down early Tuesday morning, June 8, including hundreds of news sites, such as CNN and The New York Times, as well as streaming services and social media platforms. Many users who attempted to access affected sites received error messages such as, "Connection Failure," or “Error 503 - Service Unavailable." An American cloud computing services provider reported just before 7 a.m. that "the issue has been identified and a fix has been applied.” The cause of the outage remains unclear. While all eyes are on COVID-19, a different type of “virus scam” has been making the rounds. Law enforcement officials issued a warning of a new scam involving hackers who attempt to dupe people on the Internet who are browsing the web.
