And now the community is rallying to return the favor. The K-9 was diagnosed in October with lymphoma, which, in dogs, is a common cancer of the lymphocytes, or white blood cells. According to state troopers who were manning the Saturday, March 25, checkpoint on Route 22 in Pawling, two of the people arrested were accused of driving while intoxicated and the third, of having marijuana. Michael Conway, 50, of Wingdale in Dutchess County, refused to take a breath test and was hit with a DWI charge, police said. According to the state Department of Labor stats, that’s 25 percent less than it was in 2014. The national unemployment rate was, as of January, 4.8 percent. Majestic Rainbow Shines Bright To Start Week In Rhinebeck RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Fighting crime can get ugly at times, but at least one upholder of the law took the time to share some of the beauty in the world. An unidentified state trooper paused from his or her duties on Sunday to snap a shot of a beautiful, spring morning rainbow. The image was posted on the New York State Police Facebook page. It drew numerous comments from folks who thanked the troopers for not only noticing the rainbow and sharing it but for their service as well. Many of the messages ended with a heartfelt “God bless,” or “Stay safe out there.”
