BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Frank Martignetti, choral director and a music professor at the University of Bridgeport, has been named a finalist for The American Prize in the choral conducting division for his work with the Mystic River Chorale, an auditioned community choir he’s led as artistic director since 2008.
The award is determined by a series of contests celebrating excellence in the arts.
“I have long admired my friends and colleagues recognized in this competition,” said Martignetti. “I am very grateful for the recognition I’ve received this year!”
Since its inception in 2009, the competition has awarded more than $35,000 in cash prizes, as well as recognition of the best recorded performances of music by ensembles and individuals at the professional, collegiate, church, community and secondary school levels.
At UB, Martignetti leads the university singers and chamber singers.
Under his direction, the groups have performed throughout the region, including at Carnegie Hall.
