BRIDGEPORT, CONN. -- Infighting over the status of Bridgeport’s interim schools superintendent has gotten so bad that some school board members are afraid it will scare off candidates for a permanent appointment, ctpost.com reported.

Battling over Interim Schools Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz's contract is threatening to scare potential candidates for the permanent post away, some board members say.

A few school trustees have been pressing for an answer from the state on the legality of Fran Rabinowitz’s contract, while others are claiming that the constant arguing is distracting the school board from its real mission, the ctpost.com article said.

The state’s attorney general has informed the district that he would not weigh in on the Rabinowitz flap, and the board’s own legal counsel has determined that the contract is valid, ctpost, com reported.

The board this week decided not to seek a second opinion from the state on the matter, the ctpost.com article said.
