BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The New England Regional Council of Carpenters Local 210 has announced its support for Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch’s re-election bid.
In announcing its support, NERCC Local 210 cites Finch's committment to putting Bridgeport carpenters first.
“As someone born and raised in Bridgeport who graduated from Bullard-Havens, I have worked as a carpenter -- or represented carpenters -- for more than 30 years,” said Glenn Marshall, president of NERCC Local 210. “No elected official has done more to put local Bridgeport carpenters to work with good wages, benefits and training than Mayor Bill Finch."
NERCC Local 210 represents more than 1,200 workers in Western Connecticut, including Bridgeport. Regionally, the NERCC represents more than 20,000 carpenters and 2,000 signatory contracts.
“Bridgeport continues to move in the right direction and my friends at the Carpenters Local 210 have helped,” said Finch. “I want to thank all of them for their support, but more importantly for all of the hard work they’ve done here in Bridgeport. I’m truly honored to receive their support for my re-election campaign.”
The announcement is the latest of several public endorsements released by Finch’s re-election campaign, which to date include U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes. Gov. Dan Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen, the Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee, former Bridgeport Mayors Leonard Paoletta, Tom Bucci and John Fabrizi, Bridgeport Firefighters Union, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Fairfield County Building Trades Council.
