BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Fairfield County Building Trades Council has announced its support for Mayor Bill Finch’s bid for re-election as mayor of Bridgeport.

"We are proud to endorse Mayor Bill Finch because he is a trusted leader who continues to bring more jobs and more investment to the City of Bridgeport," said Peter Carroll, president of the Fairfield County Building Trades Council, in a press release.

The Fairfield County Building Trades Council -- an affiliate of North America's Building Trades Union -- represents 13 trade unions and 7,000 workers.

"More companies want to invest here, more businesses are moving here, and more jobs are being created as a result," said Carroll in a press release. "He's growing local jobs in the economy and also making Bridgeport an even better place to live, work and raise a family."

Finch said he was honored to have the support of the organization.

“In Bridgeport, we're moving in the right direction," Finch said in a press release. “I want to thank the Fairfield County Building Trades Council for their support, and for all of their hard work right here in Bridgeport. I’m truly honored to receive their endorsement.”

The council is the latest of several public endorsements released by Finch’s re-election campaign, which include: U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, Gov. Dannell Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen, Former Bridgeport mayors Leonard Paoletta, Tom Bucci and John Fabrizi, the Bridgeport Firefighters Union International, Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Fairfield County Building Trades Council.
