Two Nabbed For Drug Trafficking In Danbury

Luis “Kiko” Rodriguez, 27, and Ronald Taveras-Castro, 30, were arrested by members of the Special Investigations Division in regard to drug trafficking, said Danbury Police Det. Lt. Mark Williams.

 The arrest was the result of a weeks-long investigation which began after investigators received citizen complaints about Taveras-Castro selling illegal drugs from the area of his residence and throughout the city, Williams said.

 As investigators corroborated the complaints through different investigative techniques, the Superior Court issued search and seizure warrants for the search of Taveras-Castro, his residence and a car registered to a relative.

Tuesday, around 3:15 p.m., investigators apprehended Taveras-Castro as he was stopped in traffic. Taveras-Castro was operating the vehicle identified in the search warrant and Rodriguez was his passenger. A search of the vehicle revealed a package of marijuana, which Rodriguez claimed ownership of. A search of his person revealed that he was additionally in possession of a substantial quantity of cocaine, he added.

As a result of executing the three search and seizure warrants, Taveras-Castro was also found to be in possession of a large quantity of prescription opioids. In addition to the seized drugs, several hundred dollars was seized from his residence.

Taveras-Castro was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell within 1500’ prohibited place, and possession of a controlled substance within 1500’ prohibited place. He is being held on $100,000 bond. 

Rodriguez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell within 1500’ prohibited place, and possession of a controlled substance within 1500’ prohibited place. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
