Elimelec Adorno, was arrested Sept. 22, on the charges of interfering with police, weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, and possession of a high capacity magazine, police said.

At around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Crescent and Akron streets in Meriden. Officers allegedly found shell casings on the scene and got a description of a suspect vehicle.

At around 5:30 p.m. police allegedly saw Adorno get into the suspect vehicle on Elm Street, police said.

At this point, the police approached Adorno and ordered him to get out of the car. He did not and instead allegedly raised a pistol in the direction of detectives, police said.

But the officers noticed they were not in danger of being shot.

“The detectives noticed that Elimelec was holding onto the pistol barrel with the pistol barrel pointed downward and magazine portion of the pistol pointed in the direction of detectives,” police alleged.

Adorno then allegedly threw the pistol out of the car window. Police seized the weapon and arrested Adorno, police said.

Adorno is being held on a $350,000 bond.
