According to Nugent, Oscar Rosado, 32, of Bridgeport was taken into custody Wednesday on a warrant in the incident at the Quaker Ridge Road home of 36-year-old William Frascatore.
Police said Frascatore told them two men had entered his home through an open door and surprised him in his bedroom, where they tied him up and rummaged through the house, then fled with jewelry and a cellphone.
Frascatore told police that he saw the men leaving in an older silver Honda Accord with a loud muffler. But the tables turned on Frascatore when police discovered a marijuana-growing operation in the basement of the house during their investigation, police said.
Detectives were granted a search warrant for the residence and seized several marijuana plants, dried marijuana and growing equipment, police said.
Frascatore, who was charged with numerous violations including cultivation of marijuana and operating a drug factory, claimed he was innocent.
Earlier this month, Francisco Colon-Cotto, 23, of Bridgeport was also charged with the home invasion while he was appearing in court on another charge.
Since that time, police have continued to investigate the case, looking for the second person involved with the invasion, Nugent said.
Rosado was taken into custody by the Bridgeport Police Department and turned over to the Shelton Police Department, where he was charged with home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, robbery, conspiracy to commit, unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to commit unlawful restraint.
Rosado was held on $250,000 bond and transported to Derby Superior Court, where he was also processed on outstanding failure to appear warrants for unrelated charges.
